Their staff will then superimpose your image onto a custom designed Ultramax background. They will print those photos onsite and can even include your finish time or any other unique statement you like. You can preview the photo before you decide to purchase, no obligation. All of this can be done on-site.

NEW LIVE RESULTS IN 2010 - Ultramax has developed a new timing program for 2010. We will have an Ultramax Live Results Station near the finish line. Once you finish, you can report to this tent for a full receipt that will include your Overall and Division placing, splits, paces and finish time. Just one more way to give back to our great athletes!

Let your friends and family know that race results will be posted within minutes of the end of the event:

There will be a link on the main page of www.ultramaxtri.com

COURSE INFORMATION

NOTE: You must wear your race number during the run portion of the race. We recommend using a race belt. Your number must be in the front when you finish.

Swim Course -
The swim is held in clean, calm Lake Aspen (Innsbrook's no-boats rule allows us to offer one of the most pristine swims in the sport). You will swim counter-clockwise, on a one-loop course. The course is clearly marked with bouys, with larger bouys at each turning point. The buoys will be on your left, with yellow triangle buoys at the long course turns and orange buoys at the short course turns. One reason that this event has become so popular over the years is the lake itself. Aspen Lake is one of the finest lakes you will ever have the pleasure to swim in. Most mornings, the Lake is so perfectly flat, you’d swear you were looking at a sheet of ice. The swim course is a retangular shaped course. Participants exit the water on a sand beach and then must run/walk approximately 250 yards, generally uphill, to the transition area. The water temperature in June should be very close to the USAT threshold temperature of 78 degrees. USA Triathlon wetsuit rules will apply. Most June races at Innsbrook have been wetsuit legal, but no guarantees.

Last Swim Wave - Last Wave Option - Regardless of your age group or race distance, you can choose to swim in a special last wave (reserved for first-time lake swimmers, or athletes who are not yet comfortable with the swim). No need to decide early, you can decide on race day at the beach. Anyone wanting to go in the last wave simply waits until it is annonced, we will record your racer number and make the appropriate timing adjustments. It is that simple! We will have a Last Swim Wave option as the last wave of each event (both Quartermax and Octomax).

Bike Course - The bike course is a loop that begins inside the resort (about 5 miles/hilly), then heads onto primarily rolling open roads. The bike course is open to traffic. Having said that, the course runs through a very rural part of the area, so vehicular traffic on race day will be minimal. Road surfaces are very good. Arrows, signs and volunteers will help guide you. Note: The Octomax course will make a turn, as indicated on the maps, to make the shorter course. There will be no bike aid stations on the course. Be prepared to carry all your fluid and food requirements. Please remember it is your responsibility to know the bike course.
Bike Support: Our exclusive partner, Big Shark Bicycles, will be on-site Saturday and Sunday to assist with sag support and last minute bike repairs and tweaks. Please support Big Shark and thank them for their support of Ultramax Events.

Run Course - The run course is a simple loop design on paved and packed gravel roads, staged entirely within Innsbrook Resort... local traffic only! Arrows, signs and volunteers will help you. This is a hilly course, so please train accordingly. Approximately 70% of the course will be on packed gravel roads. Plan accordingly if you plan to wear racing flats, lots of partcipants do. You should bring both pairs and judge for yourself once you arrive. Aid stations will be located every mile. Aid Station Supplies: Heed * Water * Ice * Hammer Gel * Endurolytes * Oranges and sponges (if the weather is warm). Vaseline and light first aid supplies will also be available at each station.

Transition Area (TA) - The entire transition area will be located up top by the Finish Line complex. You will exit, on your bike, through the BIKE OUT DOOR. When exiting for the run, you will run for a short period on grass, then onto the road. Arrows, signs and volunteers will help you. Please remember it is your responsibility to know the course.

PLEASE - Know the Course! This is an open course (no roads are closed). It will be manned by volunteers and law enforcement, but it is still your responsibility to know where you are going and to keep yourself safe. Please stay aware of traffic and obey traffic laws – you will be able to roll through intersections that are controlled by volunteers and police, but please still pay attention as we do not have control over motorists that do not listen to our directions. Do not pass the centerline of the road any time for any reason! If you have time to drive the course before Saturday morning, do so – it will make you feel more confident about knowing where to go during the bike.

TIMING CHIP NOTICE
Ultramax Events are timed using AMB ChipX Timing Systems and Chips. Please follow these simple instructions carefully. Not wearing the transponder properly may prevent you from being timed. Transponders are non-transferable! Be careful not to switch with other participants. The chip must be on your ankle at all times or you will not be scored in the event. Your timing chip will be removed by volunteers once you reach the finish line. If you find you still have your timing chip after the race, please put it in a padded envelope and mail to: Ultramax Events 2902 Forum Blvd Suite 101 Columbia, MO 65203. YOU WILL BE CHARGED A $125 REPLACEMENT FEE IF YOU DO NOT RETURN YOUR TIMING TRANSPONDER. Failure to return a chip will result in disqualification from all future events owned or timed by Ultramax Events!

TEAMS - Teams will transfer their timing chip in the transition area. The last member of the team should wear the race number on the run leg. We recommend using a race belt for easy transfer. The timing chip must be on the ankle of each team member at all times while racing.

VOLUNTEERS
SO MANY MEMBERS OF THE COLUMBIA MULTISPORT CLUB ARE RACING - WE COULD USE A FEW MORE VOLUNTEERS
Are your friends and/or family coming to the event? Are they interested in volunteering while you race? We have positions where they can see you start, race and then be there at the finish line to greet you. Nearly 100% of all unsolicited racer comments include praise for our volunteers; this is truly what makes these events possible. The racers really appreciate your time because they know and realize they could not pursue this sport without volunteers. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact us at info@ultramaxtri.com.

USA Triathlon Rules
All USAT rules apply (and can be found at usatriathlon.org), but a couple of major ones to keep in mind… Helmets must be on and strapped at all times that you are on your bike at the race site (the is the course, start, transition, finish, etc)… this includes warm up, riding your bike from parking to race site, etc. You can be disqualified if your helmet is not on and strapped. There is no drafting allowed (this means you must ride at least three bike lengths behind the person in front of you, unless actively passing).

  • Always ride to the right, unless actively passing (and pass only on the left). Move back to the right as soon as you have safely passed the other biker.
  • When passing, yell to the biker in front of you “on your left”.
  • If you must get off of your bike while on the course, pull as far right as possible, and make sure to check for other bikers before merging back onto the bike course.
  • Be polite to ALL volunteers and staff. Most of the volunteers will be at the race for about 8 hours. This is three to four times longer than it will take most long-course racers to complete the event. They are only out there for one reason – to make it possible for you to race. If you have a problem with a volunteer or staff member or feel their actions have harmed your race, please simply tell the Race Director or Assistant Race Director. Any mistreatment of volunteers can result in disqualification.
  • Clean up your trash when you’re done racing. It will take you about 45 seconds to pick up and throw away your trash… it will take a volunteer an hour or two to clean up if everyone leaves their trash.

TEAMS
Quartermax Relay Teams will transfer their timing chip inside the bike transition area. Each member of the team must return to the area to make the chip exchange. The last member of the team should wear the race number on the final run leg. The chip must be on the ankle of each team member at all times while racing.

RACE DAY PARKING

Volunteers will park you, according to space, in one of two places:
Option 1 - There is parking in the grass field across from the Finish Line. When that is full…
Option 2 – There is plenty of parking down the road from the Race Site/Finish Line.
Depending on your spot, you may have to walk up to a half mile. Please plan to arrive early enough to walk to the race site, in case you are in overflow parking lots. Please be courteous to our parking volunteers. They are getting up very early for the express purpose of helping you have a great race – it is not their fault if you do not get your ideal parking spot.

Spectators
If your family and friends are coming to cheer for you (and we hope they are!) we encourage them to stay at the race site for the duration of the event. We understand that it’s pretty sweet to have them out on the course to cheer as you go by, but every additional vehicle that is on the course while racers are on the course just adds to any risk of injury.
