Swim Course - The swim is held in clean, calm Lake Aspen (Innsbrook's
no-boats rule allows us to offer one of the most pristine swims in
the sport). You will swim counterclockwise, on a one-loop course. The
course is clearly marked with buoys, with larger buoys at each turning
point.
One reason that this event has become so popular over the years is the lake itself. Aspen Lake is one of the finest lakes you will ever have the pleasure to swim in. Most mornings, the Lake is so perfectly flat, you’d swear you were looking at a sheet of ice. The swim course is a rectangular-shaped course. Participants exit the water on a sand beach and then must run/walk approximately 250 yards generally up hill to the transition area. The water temperature in June should be very close to the USAT threshold temperature of 78 degrees. USA Triathlon wetsuit rules will apply. Most June races at Innsbrook have been Wetsuit legal, but no guarantees.
Last Swim Wave - Last Wave Option - Regardless of your age group or race distance, you can choose to swim in a special last wave (reserved for first-time lake swimmers, or athletes who are not yet comfortable with the swim). No need to decide early, you can decide on race day at the beach. Anyone wanting to go in the last wave simply waits until it is announced, we will record your racer number and make the appropriate timing adjustments. It is that simple! We will have a Last Swim Wave option as the last wave of each event. (Quartermax and Octomax)
Bike Course - The bike course is a loop that begins inside the resort (about 5 miles/hilly), then heads onto primarily rolling open roads. The bike course is open to traffic. Having said that, the course runs through a a very rural part of the area, so vehicular traffic on race day will be minimal. Road surfaces are very good. Arrows, signs and volunteers will help guide you. Note: The Octomax course will make a turn, as indicated on the maps, to make the shorter course. There will be no bike aid stations on the course. Be prepared to carry all your fluid and food requirements. Please remember it is your responsibility to know the bike course.
Run Course - The run course is a simple loop design on paved and packed gravel roads, staged entirely within Innsbrook Resort... local traffic only! Arrows, signs and volunteers will help you. This is a hilly course, so please train accordingly. Approximately 70% of the course will be on packed gravel roads. Plan accordingly if you plan to wear racing flats, lots of participants do. You should bring both pairs and judge for yourself once you arrive. Aid stations will be located every mile. Aid Station Supplies: Heed * Water * Ice * Hammer Gel * Endurolytes * Oranges and sponges (if the weather is warm)
Transition Area (TA) - The entire transition area will be located up top by the Finish Line complex. You will exit, on your bike, through the BIKE OUT DOOR. When exiting for the run, you will run for a short period on grass, then onto the road. Arrows, signs and volunteers will help you.
Get full course maps and directions in the "Course Maps Section ". Please remember it is your responsibility to know the course.

Ultramax Events are timed using AMB ChipX Timing Systems and Chips. Please follow these simple instructions carefully. Not wearing the transponder properly may prevent you from being timed. Transponders are non-transferable! Be careful not to switch with other participants. The chip must be on your ankle at all times or you will not be scored in the event. Your timing chip will be removed by volunteers once you reach the finish line. If you find you still have your timing chip after the race, please put it in a padded envelope and mail to: Ultramax Events 2902 Forum Blvd Suite 101 Columbia, MO 65203. YOU WILL BE CHARGED A $125 REPLACEMENT FEE IF YOU DO NOT RETURN YOUR TIMING TRANSPONDER. Failure to return a chip will result in disqualification from all future events owned or timed by Ultramax Events!
TEAMS - Teams will transfer their timing chip in the transition area. The last member of the team should wear the race number on the run leg. We recommend using a race belt for easy transfer. The timing chip must be on the ankle of each team member at all times while racing.

100% of all unsolicited racer comments include praise for our volunteers;

One-day insurance is available at registration if you have not purchased it in your application. You cannot race without your yearly membership card or a one-day License. YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO RACE WITHOUT A VALID PHOTO ID.
IDENTIFICATION - A wristband will be affixed to your wrist at check-in. This band will identify you as an official entrant and must be worn during the entire event. The wristband allows you access to the transition area and post–race food and beverages. You will not be allowed to remove your bicycle and gear from the transition area following the race without your wristband affixed to your wrist. PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE YOUR WRISTBAND UNTIL AFTER THE AWARDS CELEBRATIONS!
BODY MARKING - Body marking will take place on race day. You will not be permitted in the transition area on race day without your wristband and your body marked. Do not apply body lotion or sunscreen until after you have been body marked. Be sure that the volunteer who marks you does so using your race number. Bring your race number with you.
RACE RESULTS - Unofficial race results will be posted prior to the awards presentation. Please review the results and report any discrepancy to a race official PRIOR to the start of the awards presentation. Results will be considered official after the awards ceremony. Athletes who do not wear the timing chip or lose the chip during the event will not be scored. Please note that the clock at the finish line reflects the start time of the first wave. Race results will be posted online (www.ultramaxtri.com) on race day.
USAT Athlete Excess Medical Policy
The athlete excess medical coverage protects each participant for the day of the event at USAT sanctioned races, camps and clinics. When athletes purchase a USAT annual license or one day permit, a portion of those fees cover the cost to provide them with excess medical insurance. This coverage only extends to their participation in a USA Triathlon sanctioned event and is only available after the injured party has filed with any primary insurance policies. A deductible does apply for this excess coverage.
If an athlete is injured while participating in a USA Triathlon sanctioned event the following steps must be followed:
• Athletes must file with their primary healthcare provider (i.e. United Healthcare, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, traveler’s insurance, etc.).
• Athlete completes a medical claim form. For serious incidents or for athletes requesting coverage, either the race
director or USAT can provide them with a medical claim form. The medical claim form along with all explanation of benefit documents should be sent directly from the athlete to the insurance company as indicated on the claim form. Please email sanction@usatriathlon.org for a copy of the form.
• Athletes will pay a deductible. All claimants will pay anywhere from $250.00 (two-hundred and fifty U.S. dollars) to $1,000.00 (one thousand U.S. dollars) out of pocket and possibly more for uncovered expenses.
Be advised that coverage may not apply to each and every claim. Additionally, coverage only extends to participants that have purchased an USA Triathlon annual license or one-day permit and were injured through participation in a USA Triathlon sanctioned event. Please email questions to sanction@usatriathlon.org
If you register online, you will receive an email confirmation immediately. If you mail in your registration form, please allow up to 3 weeks for processing. In 2010, you can go to www.getmeregistered.com to verify your entry in all Ultramax events.
A complete document of race information will be e-mailed and made available on this website 10 days prior to the event. Please provide a current email address when registering, as we cannot ensure that this information reaches you otherwise.
Monthly email updates will also contain announcements about all Ultramax Events races.

Volunteers will park you, according to space, in one of two places:
Option 1- There is parking in the grass field across from the Finish Line. When that is full…
Option 2 – There is plenty of parking down the road from the Race
Site/Finish Line. Depending on your spot, you may have to walk up to
a half mile. Please plan to arrive early enough to walk to the race site,
in case you are in overflow parking lots.
Please be courteous to our parking volunteers. They are getting up very early for the express purpose of helping you have a great race – it is not their fault if you do not get your ideal parking spot.
PLEASE plan to watch the event from race site. Any additional traffic on the course adds to your inconvenience, and could compromise your safety.
