Course Descriptions

SBPromoSwim Course - The swim is held in the new competition pool at MU. There is simply no better swim indoor venue in the sport. The swim is "snake-style" meaning that everyone will line up according to their swim time (please time yourself at 440 yards before the race) and start individually (~10-12 seconds apart), swimming one behind the other. You will do "laps" to the end of the pool (swim to the end of one lane, duck under the ropes and swim to the end of that lane, duck under the ropes and so on). If you must pass, simply tap the toes of the person in front of you.... if your toes are tapped, move to the side and let the person through. IMPORTANT: If you estimate your time to fast or to slow it will hurt YOUR overall time and the others around you. Your best time will come if you don't pass or get passed. That means an accurately estimated swim time. We reserve the right to remove athletes from the pool and re-start them if needed.

Bike Course - The sprint triathlon bike course two loops and one loop for the new Zou Du. The course is open to traffic and we will use cones to separate cyclist from motorists when possible. Please stay inside the coned lanes when available. The course does feature some technical type turns and a few hills, so throw a decent hill or two into your training. Arrows, signs and volunteers will help you.

Run Course - The run course is a loop on a paved roads through the middle of the MU Campus surrounding area. The course is a modified loop and out and back section. The Zou Du course will be announced soon. Arrows, signs and volunteers will help you. Aid stations will be located every mile. Aid Station Supplies: Heed, Water , Ice, and HammerGel.

Transition Area (TA) - The entire transition area will be located on the Stankowski Field turf. The area has been designed first and foremost with safety and ease of traffic movement in mind. You will run from the swimming pool into the TA through the RUN IN door. You will exit, on your bike through the BIKE OUT DOOR. After the bike is finished, you will enter the TA through the BIKE IN door, put your bike away and head out of the RUN OUT door, then complete the run course and finish under the finish line arch. Arrows, signs and volunteers will help you.

Get full course maps and directions in the "Course Maps Section ". Please remember it is your responsibility to know the course.

Ultramax Events are timed using AMB ChipX Timing Systems and Chips. Please follow these simple instructions carefully. Not wearing the transponder properly may prevent you from being timed. Transponders are non-transferable! Be careful not to switch with other participants. The chip must be on ankle at all times or you will not be scored in the event. Your timing chip will be removed by volunteers once you reach the finish line. If you find you still have your timing chip after the race, please put it in a padded envelope and mail to: Ultramax Events 2902 Forum Blvd Suite 103 Columbia, MO 65203. YOU WILL BE CHARGED A $125 REPLACEMENT FEE IF YOU DO NOT RETURN YOUR TIMING TRANSPONDER Failure to return a chip will result in disqualification from all future events owned or timed by Ultramax Events!

TEAMS Teams will transfer their timing chip in the transition area. The last member of the team should wear the race number on the run leg. We recommend using a race belt for easy transfer. The timing chip must be on the ankle of each team member at all times while racing.

Team Ultramax - Be Part of It!

volunteerAre your friends and/or family are coming to the event? Are they interested in volunteering while you race? We have positions where they can see you start, race and then be there at the finish line to greet you. Nearly 100% of all unsolicited racer comments include praise for our volunteers; this is truly what makes these events possible. The racers really appreciate your time because they know and realize they could not pursue this sport without volunteers. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact us at info@ultramaxtri.com. Select the button above to sign up! See our Volunteer Page for more details.

Rules

USA TRIATHLON (USAT) competition rules will apply. These rules are found in the Triathlon Competition guidebook (usatriathlon.com).

Please Note: Per USAT rules all athletes must present a photo ID at registration. NO ONE will be permitted to race without a photo ID. Also, YOU must pick up your own packet - you cannot have someone pick up your packet for you.

USAT’s “Age Up” Policy:

An athlete's age for any USAT sanctioned race will be his/her age as of Dec. 31, 2009 . The age he/she is on 12/31 will determine his/her racing age group. If an athlete is due to "age-up" into the next group, it will happen at the beginning of the year, not after the athlete's birthday. This action aligns regular U.S. age group racing with the method used by USA Triathlon for its National Rankings Program and its new Grand Prix Series.

Example: John Smith is 39 and will turn 40 on November 20, 2009.
John will be considered 40 for all 2009 races – and will race in the 40-44 age group at all 2009 races.

This same policy applies to the all race categories in Ultramax races (Open, Clydesdale, etc).
