The Details
Camping -
Hermann has camp sites that will be used for tents (included in TOUR
package). Hermann is allowing us to make our camp "sites" pretty
much anywhere in the park you'd like to be... so when you arrive,
just pick your spot (event tents will already be set up, so you will
know where the "hub" of the event is located). These sites do not
include electrical hookups. If you prefer a full service campsite
(and have a way to get your stuff to Hermann), you can choose the
RIDE or TOUR option and make your own arrangements to camp in the
campsite across the street (which does have electrical).
Showers and bathrooms are available at the campsite.
You will drop off your camping supplies (one tent, one sleeping bag/pillow,
and one “carry on” sized bag per person) on Saturday morning,
and we will deliver them to the campsite.
You will drop all of your stuff off at the trucks Sunday morning (at
the campsite), before departing, and it will be transported back to
your starting point.

Here is a listing of Hermann's Featured Bed & Breakfasts
Free Wine Tasting -
The Hermann wineries are kind enough to bring their wines to the Hermann
park and let you taste as many as you like, for free! You will be
able to buy some of the wine while you are there... please bring
additional money if you'd like to purchase wine, and please be considerate
with your "tasting" levels (ie: if you want to drink a bottle of
wine, please buy one :). We are working on a bus transported Wine Tour. More to come on this feature.
Food -
The lunch provided will consist of a sandwich, side dish (chips or
something) and drink. There will be light snacks available in the
afternoon, and dinner will be a full catered affair. If you need more
food than we are providing, please bring it.
Friends -
If you have friends in the area, or friends who would like to enjoy an
afternoon/evening of music and wine, but are not up for the ride, please
feel free to invite them (the more the merrier!). The concert is a
community event and if it is not free to everyone (Hermann is working
on this), tickets will be available for those in your party who are
not part of the ride. In addition, meal tickets can be purchased (as
noted above). We cannot necessarily stop anyone from enjoying a free
a taste or two of wine, but please ask your party to use their discretion,
as the tasting has been arranged as a benefit to the riders.

Hermann Cyclocross Under the Lights
We added another exciting feature to the 2008 Tour package. We are inviting some of the very best cyclocross racers to Hermann to entertain YOU Saturday evening. They will race will you dine, enjoy live music and enjoy the evening . We've designed a knarly multi-lap course right in the part you can watch the action live from the campground.
What is Cyclocross - Cyclo-cross is a form of bicycle racing. Races take place typically in the autumn and winter and consists of many laps of a short course featuring pavement, wooded trails, grass, steep hills and obstacles requiring the rider to quickly dismount, carry the bike whilst navigating the obstruction and remount in one motion.
Cyclo-cross bicycles are similar to racing bicycles: lightweight, with narrow tires and drop handlebars. However, they also share characteristics with mountain bicycles in that they utilize knobby tread tires for traction, and cantilever style brakes for clearance needed due to muddy conditions. They have to be lightweight because competitors need to carry their bicycle to overcome barriers or slopes too steep to climb in the saddle. The sight of competitors struggling up a muddy slope with bicycles on their shoulders is the classic image of the sport, although u
nridable sections are generally a very small fraction of the race distance. Compared with other forms of cycle racing, tactics are fairly straightforward, and the emphasis is on the rider's aerobic endurance and bike-handling skills. More about this event Here!
